Unparalleled Height - Resurgence, vol. 1 Review

Concise Summary:

I had not heard of Unparalleled Height until today actually, but I have to say, I'm certainly a fan. They are most similar to Bullet for my Valentine in my opinion, but they also have some fairly apparent Avenged Sevenfold and As I Lay Dying influences. That being said, their music still manages to be fairly unique. Resurgence, vol. 1 seems to be a bit of an experimentation with different styles, and it's good stuff. The guitar work and singing is where this band really stood out for me. I can tell that this band has a lot of potential and I can't wait to see what Resurgence, vol. 2 will bring!

My Rating: 7.5 out of 10

Highlights:

Awesome riffing and shredding (especially the harmonized solos, those were sick!)

Really good singing and screaming

Overall a very engaging and attractive flow and feel to the album.

Lowlights:

A few of the songs seem pretty generic and some of the lyrics are a bit too repetitive for my taste.

Favorite Songs:

Hereafter is definitely my favorite (that breakdown is the best thing I've heard all day!!!). The rest of the album is below Hereafter but still pretty high, so I'd recommend listening to the whole thing.
