Metallica - Death Magnetic Review
Concise Summary:
Death Magnetic seems to be one of Metallica's least appreciated albums. However, I consider it one of their best works to date. Of course, it doesn't have the raw aggression of the Black Album, but what it does have is the classic Metallica sound combined with a slightly more refined approach to each song than the band's earlier works. Of course, it's miles better than the (in my opinion) low point albums of Metallica's career, Load, Reload, Garage Inc., and St. Anger. If I were to rate Death Magnetic in relation to other Metallic albums, It would be right up with the Black Album and Master of Puppets. With the direction Metallica has been going with Death Magnetic and their newest release, Hardwired... To Self-Destruct, I would not be at all surprised if there are several more amazing releases in their future.
My Rating: 10 out of 10
Highlights:
Awesome singing from James
The riffs are very good, keeping with the classic thrash-metal Metallica sound
Beautiful Instrumental parts (especially on Suicide and Redemption)
Awesome flow to the album
Great overall songwriting
Lowlights:
Honestly, I can't think of any. It's not the Black Album or Master of Puppets, but it's just as good - in a different way.
Favorite Songs:
That was Just Your Life
All Nightmare Long
The Day that Never Comes
Suicide and Redemption
(Just listen to the whole dang album, it's all so good.)
